SJT/UIUC solar decathlon team decision presentation

SJT/UIUC team with photos of entry, “Waterside Cube” at the Second Solar Decathlon China

The Second Solar Decathlon China, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and China National Energy Administration, comprised twenty-two teams from forty-one schools in ten countries/regions competing in Dezhou, Shandong Province in 2018. Team SJT/UIUC is a joint Team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
SJT/UIUC’s entry, the “Waterside Cube” (left and below) Solar decathlon SJT-UIUC waterside cubetook dwellings in the southern part of Yangtze River as its prototype. The design draws from traditional Chinese homes, especially in their passive energy-saving technologies. The goal was to combine new technologies and folk design ideas in order to save energy and improve the surrounding environment.
